Short Weekly Timber Frame Update Videos

We attempt to keep our clients up to date about what is happening with their timber frames. We send our clients weekly short videos of what has gone on in the shop that week...usually on Friday morning.

Compound Joinery - Timber Frame Design Office

There are NO metal clamps or fastners in the timber frame itself. The different parts of the timber frame are held together with octagonal wooded pegs. The SIP roof panels are of course secured with long screws.

Timber Frame Sign for Mikoto Restaurant

Cabin Creek Timber Frames was asked by Metcon Inc of Pembrook, NC to hand craft this magnificent sign for the new Mikoto Restaurant at Westgate Plaza, 7980 Raeford, RD. Fayetteville, NC.

It is estimated that the sign weighs 8,500 lbs. It is 22 ft tall by 22 ft wide at the base. The posts are 24 in diameter. The cypress trees that make up the posts are at least 200 years old.

Cypress for a sign we will be handcrafting this week

Cypress wood order for a timber frame sign we will be handcrafting here at the beamery this week

This cypress log is 23 inches in diameter at the top and 27 inches in diameter at its bottom.

The picture below demonstrate how collar ties and knee braces are prepared prior to being scribbed into these two bents of eastern white pine. Once finished this timber frame structure will be a 16ft by 16ft structure that could be used as a small patio, a cooking porch, or a wonderful whimsical gazebo or pavilion.
